Terms of service

Effective date: April 28, 2026

Applies to the Moonlit Tales website and iOS app in mainland China.

This English version is provided for convenience. If it differs from the Simplified Chinese version, the Simplified Chinese version controls.

Welcome to Moonlit Tales. These terms are an agreement between each user of the app or website (“you”) and the Moonlit Tales service provider (“we” or “us”). By using the app or website, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.

1. The service

Moonlit Tales is an iPhone-first bedtime story app. A parent or guardian can choose a child's nickname, age, gender, story theme, companion, and narrator voice. The app uses these choices to create a gentle bedtime story and provides narration, playback, recent stories, and membership credits.

The app is not an open-ended chat product. It does not provide a community, public posting, interaction between users, or public profiles for children. Generated content is intended only for family bedtime routines, and a parent or guardian should use their judgment and accompany the child as appropriate.

2. Eligibility and conditions

  • You must have full civil capacity. Children may use the service only with a parent or guardian's authorization and supervision.
  • You must have any parent or guardian consent required for child-related information provided to the app.
  • You must not enter a child's real name, national identification number, phone number, home address, school, photo, or other information that can identify the child in the real world.
  • You must comply with applicable law and Apple App Store rules.

3. User conduct

When using the app or website, you must not:

  • Enter, generate, or distribute unlawful, infringing, hateful, violent, sexual, harassing, or child-inappropriate content;
  • Impersonate others or violate privacy, intellectual-property, or other legal rights;
  • Reverse engineer, crack, modify, or interfere with the app or website;
  • Use the service for unauthorized commercial activity, scraping, bulk requests, or circumvention of membership-credit limits;
  • Use the service for medical or psychological diagnosis, educational assessment, or other high-risk decisions.

If you violate these terms or applicable law, we may reasonably restrict, suspend, or terminate the relevant service and reserve any rights available under law.

4. Memberships and payment

The app may offer memberships or paid benefits. Apple App Store / StoreKit handles subscription purchases, renewals, cancellations, and refunds under Apple's applicable terms. Prices, billing periods, and benefits are those shown on the purchase screen or in the App Store.

Subscriptions generally renew automatically unless canceled under Apple's rules before the current billing period ends. You can view, cancel, or manage a subscription through Apple ID subscription management in iOS.

5. Generated content and availability

Story generation and narration may depend on model services, speech services, a network connection, Apple system capabilities, and device performance. Generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected. A parent or guardian should use appropriate judgment before or while a child listens.

We work to keep the service reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that every result will meet every expectation. We may change, interrupt, or discontinue features because of maintenance, upgrades, service-provider issues, network failures, force majeure, or legal requirements.

6. Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the interface design, icons, illustrations, typography, code, brand assets, product copy, and default materials in the app and website belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or use them commercially without written permission.

Information a user enters to create a story remains with its respective rights holder. Stories generated from that information are for personal and family use only and must not violate third-party rights or be used unlawfully.

7. Privacy

We handle parent- and child-related information under the Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy Notice. Read both before use.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable beyond legally required limits for loss caused by improper user input, a violation of these terms, third-party service failures, network conditions, device issues, or force majeure. The app never replaces a parent or guardian's care, judgment, or presence.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms because of product, legal, or operational changes. We will provide an appropriate notice of material changes on the website or in the app. Continuing to use the app or website after a change means that you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law and disputes

The formation, performance, interpretation, and dispute resolution of these terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China. The parties should first try to resolve a dispute through good-faith discussion. If that fails, either party may bring the dispute before a People's Court with jurisdiction.
