Children's privacy notice

This notice supplements the Privacy Policy and specifically explains how Moonlit Tales handles personal information relating to children under 14. A parent or guardian should read and accept it before a child uses the app.

1. Scope

Moonlit Tales is a bedtime story app for parents and children to use together. We expect a parent or guardian to select the information used to create stories and to manage subscriptions, support requests, and data requests.

The website content is written for parents and guardians. Optional analytics on the website is not intended to collect child data. A parent or guardian controls analytics consent, and we never ask or prompt a child to provide analytics consent.

2. Child-related data

To create and narrate personalized stories, the app may process the following child-related information:

• Nickname or form of address;
• Age or age range;
• Gender;
• Story preferences such as theme, companion, and narrator voice;
• Story-generation selections, generated story content, and recent-story records;
• Playback information, such as audio caches, playback state, or story titles shown in system notifications.

3. Purposes

We process children's data only to:

• Create bedtime stories suited to the child's age and preferences;
• Synthesize or play story narration;
• Save recent stories and preferences to reduce repeated input;
• Handle a parent or guardian's deletion, correction, withdrawal-of-consent, and support requests;
• Keep the app safe, stable, and reliable.

We do not use children's data for advertising tracking, public display, sale, or unrelated commercial profiling.

4. Service providers and delegated processing

For story generation and narration, necessary information such as a child's nickname, age, gender, theme, companion, and story text may be sent to Volcengine / Doubao Ark or Volcengine speech services. Apple StoreKit handles subscription transactions, and Apple system services may provide notifications, playback controls, Live Activity, iCloud Documents, or backup.

To recover interrupted delivery of a newly generated story, synthesized narration audio may be stored temporarily in a private backend cache for no more than 12 hours. We delete it promptly after the app confirms local storage and otherwise remove it under the expiration policy.

We limit transfers to what the feature needs and encourage parents to use nicknames and generalized preferences to reduce identifiability.

5. Parent and guardian rights

A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to:

• Ask how children's data is processed;
• Correct children's data;
• Delete children's data, story records, or related caches;
• Withdraw consent and stop further processing;
• Ask about service-provider processing and data-security measures.

Email requests to support@moonlittales.app. To protect children, we may verify the request before acting on it.

6. Security measures

We use reasonable safeguards such as data minimization, access restrictions, encryption in transit, cache controls, and redaction of error logs. If an incident may affect the security of children's personal information, we will take remedial and notification steps required by applicable law.

7. Updates

If there is a material change to the scope or purpose of children's data processing or to service providers, we will update this notice and obtain parent or guardian consent again when required.
